The Prodigal Son | GCED | Song

Jesus told of a man who had two sons, And then one day there came the younger one And said, “Father, give me the share that
falls to me.” So he gathered his things and went to a far country. There he spent all he had in a wasteful life. A famine arose and he began to be in strife. And yet the only job that he could find, Was to go out into the fields and feed the swine. “Son you are always with me, and all that I have is yours. It is fitting to make merry and be glad, For this your brother was dead and is alive again. Your brother was lost and now is found.” “My father’s servants have bread enough and
to spare. I will arise and go to my father there, And say, ‘Father, I’ve sinned, I’m not worthy to be called your son. Will you take me back and treat me as a hired one?'” So the son returned to his father’s place. His father ran and met him with a warm embrace. “Bring a robe and shoes for his feet and a ring for his hand, For this my son was dead and is alive again.” “Son you are always with me, And all that I have is yours. It is fitting to make merry and be glad, For this your brother was dead and is alive again, Your brother was lost and now is found.” The older brother was angry and would
not go in. His father came out and began to plead with him. Yet he answered, “All of these years I’ve served with you. You’ve never commanded a thing that I didn’t do. Yet you never gave a goat to me That I might entertain my company! And yet this son of yours who has lived in sin You’ve gone and killed the fatted calf for him!” “Son you are always with me, And all that I have is yours. It is fitting to make merry and be glad, For this your brother was dead and is alive again. Your brother was lost and now is found. Your brother was lost and now is found.”
